JUNIOR AUXILIARY OF COLUMBUS SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

To be considered for either scholarship, the applicant must meet the general Junior Auxiliary of Columbus guidelines for scholarship:

1. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in Lowndes County.
2. Applicant must have maintained a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 grade point system throughout all high school work.
3. Applicant’s financial need, scholastic excellence, and participation in school and community activities will be considered.
4. Applicant must submit the JA application (to be considered, applications must be submitted by the deadline).
5. Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (with contact information available).
6. Applicant must submit an official high school transcript.
7. Applicant must have completed a 500-word essay on “How will being a recipient of a JA of Columbus scholarship help you attain your college goals?”

The Miss Eleanor Slaughter Excellence Scholarship

In addition to meeting the JA standards for scholarship, the Miss Eleanor Slaughter Excellence Award candidate should excel in ALL areas: academic, civic, service, and character.

The Terry Brewer Spirit Scholarship

In addition to meeting the JA standards for scholarship, the Terry Brewer Spirit Award candidate should possess a strong, faith-based service commitment as shown through his/her participation in school and community activities – with primary emphasis on volunteerism and work with children.
