Feed to Succeed

Project Chair: Anna Chappell
Assistant Chair: Christina Spann

Feed to Succeed is a food pack program for local students that provides supplemental food items for children who depend on the school system for food and may not be getting enough to eat at home on weekends. The project was created by the Provisional Class of 2019-2020, who felt called to go back to the core roots of the Junior Auxiliary organization and provide for the basic human needs of children in the community.

School counselors refer the children to Junior Auxiliary of Columbus, whose members organize and deliver food to the schools on a weekly basis. The food, which is purchased through the Mississippi Food Network, is then sent home with the identified students. In addition to those food packs, and because we love to go above and beyond for our Feed to Succeed students, committee members have also delivered birthday treats, Thanksgiving meals, and Christmas treats to the students.

Feed to Succeed is currently in its third year, and thanks to generous donations, has expanded to meet the needs of more local children in need of supplemental food on weekends.  The project currently serves West Lowndes Elementary School, Sale Elementary School, and Caledonia Middle School. During the 2021-2022 school year, more than 1,000 food packs were delivered to the schools.
