Fit & Fabulous Forever

Fit & Fabulous Forever, F3 for short, is a project dedicated to targeting childhood obesity. Mississippi has one of the highest obesity rates in the nation. Junior Auxiliary of Columbus has designed a project to target this serious health risk facing today’s youth by attempting to decrease heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity. Junior Auxiliary members visit Lowndes County elementary students to present the importance of healthy eating and staying active in a format that is both educational and enjoyable. F3 uses a “day fair” set up with 4 different stations to allow the children a close-up and hands-on view of each area being discussed. The stations are as follows:

  • Hydration Station - Importance of staying hydrated

  • Backpack Relay Station - Allows students to see the difference extra weight can cause on physical activity

  • Jump Rope Station - Easy way to stay active

  • Dance Station - Fun way to stay active

When all of the stations have been visited, students receive a jump rope to take home to serve as a reminder to stay active. This project has been performed at nearly all city and county schools in a rotational manner.
